Scent Story & Inspiration
Our Hongkonger founder, Angel Cheung, was inspired to create this perfume to narrate the legendary story of Hong Kong, nicknamed “The Pearl of the Orient”, from a small incense trading port to what is now a renowned metropolitan through the meaningful ingredient composition.
The following key ingredients signifies Hong Kong’s history, culture and spirit.
Agarwood, is also called the King of Incense, can be found in Hong Kong while the name “Hong Kong” literally means “Fragrant Harbour”.
White Champaca, a humble plant that supported the living of local elderly women who sold it on street corners in the ancient times. Its unique yet familiar scent reminisces us of the old days of Hong Kong.
Orchid, can grow well even in tough environment, illustrates the resilient spirit of the Hongkongers.
Bergamot, which belongs to Citrus note, smells like an energiser.
Sandalwood and Frankincense, the former is burnt in Chinese temples, while the latter is used for Western church, represent Hong Kong culture of “East meets West”.
Ambergris, having the aquatic facet, signifies the iconic scene of Hong Kong - Victoria Harbour.
We hope The Hong Kong Story perfume connects people from around the world to Hong Kong and reminds us Honghongers of our DNA of resilience and never-giving-up spirit to overcome adversity and to keep blooming in the years to come.
